“Ghina” is a beautiful name for a beautiful 12 year old child in White Hearts Center. Ghina’s problem lies in her extreme shyness, which prevents her from communicating with others, as is the case within the family. Ghina’s shyness made her more introverted and isolated, preferring not to engage with other children while playing games or participating in class.

It was clear that Ghina needed psychological support to break the barrier of shyness and make her more willing to interact with others.
Therefore, the psychological support specialist at White Hearts Center developed a two-month plan to involve Ghina in individual and group sessions, which included participation of her parents, who are a major motivating factor for developing communication skills and integrating effectively with others.
Ghina is currently more outgoing and positive towards participating in educational classes and is even able to lead some activities with her friends.Become a part of Ghina’s story by donating directly to the efforts of White Hearts Center through our partners at SAMS (the Syrian American Medical Society). Donations are secure and tax-deductible, and help White Hearts Center provide up-to-date speech, physical, and psychological therapies as well as educational support and integration. Together, we can make a difference!
