Step by Step, a Dream Comes True: A Physical Therapy Success Story

Physical Therapy

Mohammed Darwish is 4 years old, one of the youngest white hearts in White Hearts Center for Children with Down Syndrome. Mohammed is our beloved child because of his young age, and the whole team is keen to take care of him and provide the appropriate services that suit his young age.

While Mohammed does not join regular education lessons, he responds effectively to learning through play and games. When Mohammed joined the WHC family, he suffered from an inability to stand and walk, in addition to severe weakness in the muscles of the pelvis and lower and upper extremities. Our physical therapist developed a special 3-month plan suitable for his age that included strengthening sessions for the muscles of the pelvis, trunk, upper extremities and lower extremities.

At the end of the treatment plan, Mohammed Darwish was able to walk and move freely! As a result, he is now participating with his friends in games and activities. Despite his young age, he responded greatly to treatment and exercises, which helped achieve rapid improvement.

Become a part of Mohammed’s story by donating directly to the efforts of White Hearts Center through our partners at SAMS (the Syrian American Medical Society). Donations are secure and tax-deductible. White Hearts Center depends on your generous donations to help provide up-to-date speech, physical, and psychological therapies as well as educational support and integration.
